VATHAL KULAMBU

  This vathal kulambu is very easy to make but tastes AWESOME . It taste great after a day , so try to make before the day to serve. Lip smacking one ...... This powder takes the gravy from one extent to another ,.

SERVES : 2

 INGREDIENTS :

Sunda vathal / manathakkali vathal - 1/4 cup (needed)
Tamarind - small lemon size / if paste - 1 spoon
 Small onion - 8 - 10
Garlic - 1 full 
Jaggery - !tbl spn
Sesame oil- 3 tblspn
Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves -2 springs
Asafoetida -  1/2 tsp - 1 tsp

FOR MASALA :
Coriander seeds - 2 tbl spoon 
Toor dal - 1 tsp
Urad dal - 1 tsp
Raw rice - 1 tsp
Fenugreek - 1/4 tsp
Pepper - 1 tsp
Dry chilli - 8 - 10

RECIPE :

Take all the ingredients.
Peel onion & garlic 
soak tamarind & squeeze its juice
Dry roast all the ingredients given under" for masala"
 Let it cool , keep aside
 Heat a pan add oil
Fry vathal first & keep it aside


 In the same pan with remaining oil add mustard seeds
Add curry leaves &  asafoetida
 Now add small onion , Saute 
 After a minute add garlic
 Saute for 2 mins
 Now add tamarind extract 
 Add a cup of water & close the lid
 Boil it for 8 mins
After 8 mins 
 Now add 2 spoons of masala powder
 Let it boil
Add salt & adjust spice levels
U can see the transformation of the gravy
Now add jaggery  
Add fried vathal & stir


Simmer for 2 more mins
 Gravy done..... Serve with hot rice
