VAZHAITHANDU SOUP / PLANTAIN STEM SOUP / BANANA STEM SOUP

Banana stem soup is very very good for health, we all know.But usually we all neglect this one often... This stem is my fav. I tried banana stem soup more times but i am not satisfied with that.

Finally i got a perfect recipe.. Here i am sharing this , I forgot all the types before i tried. Now this only fixed in my mind.

INGREDIENTS :

  1. Banana stem - 1 cup chopped
  2. Turmeric powder - a pinch
  3. Oil - 2 tbl spn
  4. Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  5. Cumin - 1 tsp
  6. Green chilli - 2 pc
  7. Curry leaves - 1 spring
  8. Coriander powder - 2 tsp
  9. Pepper powder - 1 tsp
  10. Salt - to taste 
  11. Sugar - a pinch
  12. Garlic - 3 pcs
  13. Coriander leaves - little
  14. Cream - 2 tbl spn (if cream not available , take
  15. Milk - 3 tbl spn
  16. Cornflour - 1 tsp)

RECIPE :

Take all the ingredients
Clean & chop banana stem
Take a pressure pan
Put the banana stem
Add a cup of water with pinch of turmeric
Pressure cook this for 3-4 whistles
Let it cool
Now strain the stem , keep the water aside
Take a blender , put cooked banana stem
Blend the cooked banana stem with water as puree
Take a pan add 1 tbl spn of oil
Add mustard seeds , let it crackle
Add cumin seeds , curry leaves, & green chilli
Now add grounded puree and water which we strained
Boil it
Now add coriander powder , pepper powder , salt and sugar
Stir and boil till raw smell of powders goes
Now strain it completely
Chop garlic finely
Heat a pan add oil
Saute garlic till golden brown
Add the strained soup water
Boil it
Now add cream ( or milk and cornflour mixture)
Boil for 2 more mins
Adjust the taste
Soup gets thicken
Add coriander leaves
Now healthy soup done
Serve hot......
