THALAPPAKATTI CHICKEN BIRIYANI

I love chicken biriyani , So i tried many types of biriyanis. Ofcourse biriyani is most of the peoples favorite , i know that.. Here i have only few recipes in my blog now. I will update all the types soon.. Coming to this recipe , this is such an easy biriyani recipe tastes really really awesome.

Try to marinate the chicken for 7 - 8 hrs or whole night, it makes the chicken tender & juicy... For this recipe i marinated & kept in fridge for whole night. I served this biriyani with onion raita & prawn fry.. It tastes yummmm......

Try to use freshly crushed ginger garlic & freshly grounded biriyani masala and fresh coconut milk. It enhances the taste better...

INGREDIENTS :

  1. Ghee - 1 tbl spn
  2. Oil- 2 tbl spn
  3. Cashew nuts - 10
  4. Raisins - 10 - 15 pc
  5. Cinnamon - 1 inch pc
  6. Bay leaf - 2
  7. Cloves - 3 pc
  8. Cardamom - 1 pc
  9. Black stone flower - small pc
  10. Jeeraka samba rice - 1 +1/2 cup
  11. Onion - 1 large 
  12. Tomato - 1 medium
  13. Green chilli - 3
  14. Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbl spn
  15. Coriander leaves - 1/4 cup
  16. Mint leaves - 1/4 cup
  17. Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  18. Chilli powder - 1 tbl spn
  19. Biriyani powder - 2 tsp
  20. Curd - 1 tsp
  21. Coconut milk - 1 cup
  22. Water - 2 cups
  23. Salt - to taste
  24. Lemon- 1/2 pc
FOR MARINATION :
  1. Chicken - 1/2 kg
  2. Chilli powder - 1 tsp
  3. Coriander powder - 2 tsp
  4. Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  5. Ginger garlic paste - 1/2 tsp
  6. Coriander leaves , mint leaves - small amount
  7. Salt - to taste
  8. Curd -4 tsp

RECIPE :

Take all the ingredients
Take a bowl 
Add all the ingredients given for marinate
Make a paste'
Add chicken
Marinate for 3 hrs
Wash & soak the rice for 30 mins
Slice onions & tomato thinly
Slit green chillies
Wash coriander & mint leaves , keep aside
Heat a pressure pan
Add ghee and oil
Now put whole spices 
Add cashew and fry it
Add raisins
Add ginger garlic paste ( i used freshly crushed)
Fry for a min
Now add onions , grren chilli

Saute it
Add tomatoes , saute for 2 mins
Add coriander &mint leaves
Add all the spice powders
Saute it for 2 more mins
Now add curd and mix well
Finally add marinated chicken
Mix and cook for 5 - 6 mins 
Now add Soaked rice 
Mix well
Add coconut milk & water

Add Squeezed lemon juice 
Adjust the spice levels now
Close the lid & presssure cook for 2 - 3 whistles in medium flame
Let it cool for 20 mins
Open the lid
Fluff up the rice
Serve with onion raita
