 KARUNAI KILANGU MASIYAL........

           It is a super gravy side dish for rice... Karunai kilangu masiyal (elephant yam )..It has itchy properties, but cooking in correct form helps to get rid of itchiness...
This yam is cooked in yummy tamarind gravy.. 

JUST GIVE A TRY...... HAPPPYYYY COOOKINGGG.......



INGREDIENTS :

  1. Karunai kilangu - 3 
  2. Onion - 1 medium
  3. Tamarind - small lemon size ball
  4. Turmeric powder - 1/2tspn
  5. Green chilli - 4 pc
  6. Asafoetida - pinch
  7. Curry leaves - 1 spring
  8. Chilli powder - 1/2 spn
  9. Salt - to taste
  10. Gingelly oil - 3 spn
  11. Mustard seeds - 1/2 tspn
  12. Urad dal - 1/2 tspn
  13. Fenugreek seeds - 1/4 tspn
  14. Jaggery - 1 spn
  15. Lemon juice - 1 spoon
  16. Coriander leaves - little amount

RECIPE :

Take all the ingredients
Cook the yam in a pressure cooker  for 3 whistles
Smash the boiled yam coarsely or finely
Chop the onions , chilli & ginger finely
Heat a kadai , add gingelly oil

Add mustard seeds & urad dal
Add fenugreek seeds
Add asafoetida 
             
Add onins ,chilli &ginger pieces
Add turmeric powder

Add tamarind pulp & add little water

Cover & cook
After 5 mins add smashed yam , stir it
Add chilli powder if needed 
Adjust the spice level in this stage
Boil it more for 4 mins 
Add chopped coriander leaves& off the flame
Enjoy it with hot rice
