EASY TIFFIN SAMBAR

This tiffin sambar is very simple to make. Goes well with idly , dosa or vada... We love this simple sambar much...

SERVES :3 -4

INGREDIENTS :

  1. Tuvar dal - 1/2 cup
  2. Moong dal - 1/4 cup
  3. Mixed veggies (carrot,beans,potato) - 1 cup
  4. Onion - 1 
  5. Tomato - 1
  6. Green chilli - 2 pc
  7. Coriander leaves - little
  8. Sambar powder - 1 tbl spn
  9. Chilli powder - 1/2 tbl spn
  10. Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  11. Gram flour - 1 tsp (optional)
  12. Asafoetida - pinch
  13. Salt - to taste
TO TEMPER :
  1. Oil - 2 tbl spn
  2. Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  3. Urad dal - 1/4 tsp
  4. Asafoetida - pinch
  5. Fenugreek seeds - little pinch
  6. Curry leaves - 2 spring
  7. Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp

RECIPE :

Take all the ingredients
Chop onion , tomato & veggies
Take tuvar dal & moong dal
Wash it
Take a pressure pan 
Add dal , veggies , onion &tomato
Add turmeric powder , asafoetida & little salt
Pour one cup of water
Pressure cook this for 4 - 5 whistles in medium flame
After pressure released open it
Mash the dal &veggies
Add a cup of water
Boil it
Take a bowl add sambar powder& chilli powder
Add little water, mix well 
Add this to dal mixture
(IF U ADD GRAM FLOUR , ADD THIS AT THIS STAGE)
Boil till raw smell goes
Adjust spice levels & consistency
Temper all the things given under "to temper"
Add this tadka to sambar
Add coriander leaves
Boil it for 2 more mins
Now sambar done
Serve it with idly / dosa /vada
